We host our email newsletter for free through Substack because they're one of the only platforms that will allow over 100k subs at no cost (wow)! The next event, however, will mostly take place on this site with Substack simply as a way-point for our sent email archive. Any time you think you may have missed an email, you will be able to reference our Substack for a public archive!

WHY BE A DARK MODE AUTHOR?
Dark Mode Books is open to all indie dark fiction authors of the dark fantasy, dark romance, horror, or dark scifi genres. It's specific to Amazon Kindle Books only, so authors must either be enrolled in KDP Select or if wide must price match for the event to do a free or $0.00 book promo. SYK events are great for boosting any title you just want to get more eyes on! SYK is all about collective uplifting across the bookish community for indie authors.

Every author gets their own individual book page. You can use your page to help market your book for the event, linking your book directly in your bio and website. Every author is also, of course, included in the Masterlist.

Dark Mode puts a focus on more granular book listings with things like tropes, representation, content warnings, etc. This helps make sure the downloads you get are from readers most aligned with your book.

We work directly with BookTok and Bookstagram! So we have many influencers that help drive traffic to your book and offer you greater exposure. Influencers help curate our Top Reads List, which if your book gets chosen will also offer additional visibility.

Networking! Being part of the event gets you access to the FB group where all authors can collab, get to know each other, and follow each other on social. So it's great if you're looking to expand your author community.
Author Sign Ups for 2024 are now closed. Be sure to come back in 2025 for access to our Facebook Group! We encourage all authors to RSVP to our mailing list to be in the know on all reader communications.
WHY BE A DARK MODE INFLUENCER?
Dark Mode Books is open to any BookTok and/or Bookstagram content creator who loves to support indie books of the dark fantasy, dark romance, horror, and/or dark scifi genres. Because this is a free event, actively posting and boosting as an influencer of the event can help dark fiction readers find you!
This is perfect if you actively review and post about dark fiction and/or Stuff Your Kindle events. Any Influencer that helps curate our Top Reads list will be featured on this website with your social media links! The Top Reads list will be sent to all 100k+ Dark Mode Books email subscribers, so it's potentially great, free exposure for your accounts.
